Your First Two Minutes on NUVC: What Happens When You Upload a Pitch Deck
Upload a PDF. In under two minutes you have a NuScore, a 6-dimension breakdown, a readiness band, and 10+ investor matches. Here is exactly what happens between upload and result.
Most pitch deck tools ask you to fill in a form. NUVC asks you to upload a PDF. Everything else happens automatically in under two minutes. Here is what actually occurs between the moment you hit upload and the moment your score appears.
Step 1: Upload Your PDF
The only thing you need is a PDF of your pitch deck, up to 25MB. You do not need to tag slides, label sections, or fill in any metadata. The AI reads the deck as a document and figures out the structure itself.
If your deck is a slide-per-page export from Keynote, Google Slides, or PowerPoint, it works. If it is a designed PDF with non-standard layouts, it works. The extraction layer is built to handle real-world deck formats, not idealized templates.
Step 2: The AI Pipeline Processes Your Deck in Parallel
As soon as your deck uploads, the pipeline starts working simultaneously:
- Extraction: Reads every slide and extracts structured data — team credentials, market sizing figures, traction metrics, financial projections, product descriptions, and any risk acknowledgments present in the deck.
- Integrity checks: Cross-checks the extracted data for internal consistency. If your traction slide claims 200% MoM growth but your financials show flat revenue, that gets flagged. If your team slide lists credentials that do not match the problem domain, that is noted.
- Enrichment: Looks up publicly available data about your company, founders, and market to add context. This runs asynchronously and never blocks your score.
Step 3: Your Deck Is Scored Across 6 Dimensions
The scoring stage receives the structured output from extraction and integrity checks and produces a NuScore — a single 0–10 number — alongside a breakdown across six dimensions:
- Team — Founder-market fit, relevant experience, completeness of the founding team
- Problem & Market — Clarity of the problem, market sizing methodology, evidence of demand
- Solution & Product — Differentiation, defensibility, product stage and evidence
- Traction — Revenue, users, growth rate, customer evidence — with specific numbers, not narrative
- Financials — Revenue projections, unit economics, use of funds, runway
- Risk & Fragility — Whether risks are identified and mitigated, not just ignored
Conviction — the “why us” signal — is evaluated as a gate, not a numeric dimension. It does not raise your score but it determines whether the overall read is compelling or generic.
This takes under two minutes from upload.
Step 4: You Get a Readiness Band
Your NuScore maps to one of seven readiness bands, from Early Stage (lowest) to Unicorn Potential (highest). The band gives you a plain-English interpretation of where your deck sits relative to investor expectations:
- 7.5+: Investor-Ready or above — strong probability of securing meetings
- 6.5–7.4: Approaching Investor-Ready — targeted improvements needed
- 5.0–6.4: Developing — structural gaps to address before outreach
- Below 5.0: Early Stage — focus on the two lowest-scoring dimensions first
Step 5: Your Investor Matches Are Generated
A filter-first pass runs against the 9,000+ investor database — eliminating funds whose stage, sector, or cheque size does not fit your raise — then reranks the remaining pool across seven signals including thesis alignment, deal lens weighting, and recent portfolio activity.
You see 10+ matched investors with their match rationale before you do anything else. This happens automatically from your upload, with no additional input required.
